The partners included in this project are Kathmandu University IT students and Jawalakhel Rotary Club.  The project will be installed by KU IT students with the training from Intel engineers.  Kathmandu University, the Jawalakhel Rotary Club, and the local community will discuss ways to ensure the sustainability of the project.

The Classmate PCs comes loaded with educational software.  An attempt will be made to train teachers to use these PCS to enhance learning methods in math, science, social studies, & English.  It will also be used to create social media projects such as digital storytelling which will empower youth and community voice.

Why Dalchoki?
In Summer 2009, Himalayan Study Abroad Program  students comparatively studied socioeconomic, cultural, and ecological aspects of Rio Grande (NM) and Bagamati River (Kathmandu) systems. In addition, students engaged in community projects such as: visiting of a micro-finance village, distribution of smokeless stoves, and building of a rain-harvesting project in a school in the Dalchoki Village. The teachers of that school expressed a need for computer literacy program.
